This deposit contains the analytical artefacts supporting the manuscripts "Sectoral Institutional Capacity and Preferential Trade Utilisation: Evidence from South African Agrifood Exports to the European Union & These materials also support the related manuscript 'Beyond Market Access: Compliance Architecture, Institutional Capacity, and Trade Preference Utilisation in Agrifood Value Chains.'" The deposit comprises five files: a Constant Market Share (CMS) decomposition workbook covering four HS four-digit agrifood product categories (citrus, table grapes, wine, processed fruit preparations) over 2006–2024, with underlying trade data sourced from the ITC Trade Map and UN Comtrade; a Worldwide Governance Indicators time-series extract for South Africa covering 2006–2024, derived from the World Bank (2024) WGI database and supporting the empirical claims in Section 6.3 of the manuscript; the deductive coding framework used in the documentary analysis strand of the explanatory sequential mixed-methods design; a document register cataloguing the ten policy and industry sources subjected to systematic documentary analysis; and the integrated joint-display matrix synthesising quantitative CMS findings with documentary evidence across four institutional capacity mechanisms (rules-of-origin administration, sanitary and phytosanitary coordination, customs procedures, and export promotion coordination). The CMS decomposition follows Leamer and Stern (1970) and Richardson (1971). The documentary analysis is structured by the four-domain capacity framework adapted from Williamson (2000). Materials supporting passage-level coding of copyrighted source documents are available from the corresponding author on reasonable request, subject to fair-use constraints of the underlying sources.
