Mapping and sampling of the Baronick Glacier region - from the Baronick Glacier to Hobnail Peak and the bluffs at the Skelton/Baronick Glaciers

A topographical and geological map was made on the deformed sedimentary sequence at the Baronick Glacier detailing continuity of horizons and distinctive chemically altered layers. Three sections were measured in detail to document the variations in rock types and the lateral variability of the different layers. At the Baronick Glacier, the entire area between the glacier and Hobnail Peak was sampled and mapped. The bluffs at the Skelton Glacier-Baronick Glacier confluence were extensively sampled and mapped. Some distinct lithologies were also found during mapping of the marble and the boundaries of a 1km square tectonic slice of metabasites were delineated.
