The series consists of correspondence related to bread manufacturers, distributors and their employees and their compliance with labour regulations.The Department of Labour and Industry was responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Bread Industry Act of 1946 (Act No.40, 1946) and subsequent amending Acts.The Act authorised inspectors to enter the premises of trade suppliers, manufacturers, and the distributers and sellers of bread in order to check compliance with labour awards and other regulations of the Act.
