Common carp (Cyprinus carpio) is a globally significant aquaculture species, with breeding programs predominantly aimed at improving growth performance. However, accumulating evidence indicates that rapid growth is often accompanied by reduced disease resistance. To elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying this trade-off, we conducted an infection challenge using spring viremia of carp virus (SVCV) on two carp populations with markedly different growth rates. Survival analysis post-infection revealed significant disparities in mortality between the groups
