Seed transcriptome analysis and SSR marker development for Fagopyrum esculentum and Fagopyrum tataricum Transcriptome

Common buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum) and tartary buckwheat (Fagopyrum tataricum) are two major cultivated species of the genus Fagopyrum. Studies on speciation and molecular mechenisms for differences in agronomical and nutritional quality traits between the two species, and dvelopment of SSR markers of the genus Fagopyrum have been impeded by a lack of genomic resources. In the present study, we analyzed the seed transcriptome of common and tartary buckwheat by Illumina deep sequencing platform.
