Transcriptome analyses of public datasets from human tissues and cells revealed that the alternative isoform V-3 represented the predominant variant of the globin cytoglobin (CYGB) in hepatoblastoma (HB) cell lines and in the majority of analysed normal and HB liver tissues. RNA-seq analyses on CYGB+/+ and gene-edited CYGB-/- HepG2 cell lines were performed to investigate possible transcriptomic effects of the CYGB knockout and gain knowledge on the potential function of CYGB V-3 in HB cells. The submitted libraries consist of reads trimmed for quality and adapter sequences and filtered for quality. Each library, which was sequenced as paired reads, is composed of a forward reads file, a reverse reads file, and a single end reads file consisting of the reads whose respective pair was discarded in the processing step.
