VPRS 17959 Psychiatric Service Reports

This series consists of reports that document psychiatric examinations of trainees at Langi Kal-Kal Youth Training Centre (VA 2545) .The Langi Kal Kal Psychiatric Service provided an examination of trainees upon referral. Psychiatric examinations of trainees were also performed outside the Psychiatric Service. The record of the examination provided by the Psychiatric Service was described as a Progress Report. These reports include the following information:- name of trainee- age- location- referral avenue- reason for referral- date of examination- commentsThe "location" refers to the Section or House within Langi Kal Kal. The "referral avenue" iwas generally used to record the staff member at the Centre that made the referral. There were also self-referrals or a referral from another source. Reasons for referral may include behavioural problems, difficulties with staff or other trainees, follow-up examination, review of medication and general condition, problems with alcohol, depression, suicide attempts and liability to abscond etc. Examination could also take place at other psychiatric clinics. Examinations would be recorded in a similar way to those in the structured progress reports.
