We used Halloysite nanotubes (HNT) to formulate dispersant for crude oil spill applications. HNT was loaded with different weight percent of the surfactants; Tween 80, Span 80, modified lecithin phosphatidylinositol (Lecithin FPI)and dioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate (DOSS). The surfactant release kinetics was examined. The effectiveness of the formulated dispersants in dispersing crude oil was then examined with the US EPA's baffled flask test. The dataset reports the dispersion effectiveness of the various dispersant formulations that is HNT, HNT-Span 80, HNT-DOSS, HNT-Lecithin FPI, HNT-Tween 80, HNT-DOSS-Tween 80, HNT-DOSS-Span 80, HNT-DOSS-Lecithin FPI, HNT-Tween 80-Lecithin FPI, HNT-Tween 80-Span 80, HNT-Lecithin FPI-Span 80, HNT-DOSS-Span 80-Tween 80, HNT-DOSS-Tween 80-Lecithin FPI and HNT-Span 80-Lecithin FPI-Tween 80 .
