Our analysis leverages the Bank of England stress test data and fossil fuel exposure data sourced from publicly available, audited information. We provide risk analyses at low, medium, and high levels for every publicly listed company, as well as some private companies. We measure a company’s contribution and detraction from sustainable development via their core business and quantitative material ESG factors. Our data is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and has been independently recognised by the United Nations as “a great resource’”. This methodology has been shown to outperform other ESG data providers, as reported by TGM. It has been shown to be material for forward-looking risk and return, and independently shown to outperform other ESG data providers for ratings impacting on financial performance. Risk Alignment Differentiation: • ‘Value Chain Dollar Value’ Metric – This exposure metric for carbon fuel exposure allows fairer comparisons between smaller companies and larger companies across different industries and fill in data where it isn’t reported. • Carbon Risk Calculation – Our Carbon reporting tool calculates scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions using the Bank of England Stress Tool calculations and industry averages. It is calculated from fossil fuel exposure within a portfolio as a proportion of company revenue. Our calculations provide a single, quantitative way to compare any company against any other on carbon pollution, regardless of the industry that the company is in. • Standardized Data – Our process means you can readily compare our data across industries and countries. It also helps to measure greenwashing that occurs with larger companies when compared to smaller companies with minimal resources.
