资源简介:
Photograph of Mrs Margaret Laws (nee Gray), wife of Dr Robert Laws. Margaret Laws is pictured sitting on a chair holding a young infant, likely Dr and Mrs Law's daughter Amelia Nyasa Laws, born in 1886. There is a wooden stair case in the background and a leopard skin rug on the floor.; This belongs to a series of Church of Scotland Foreign Missions Committee lantern slides relating to Dr Robert Laws (1851-1934) the Scottish Missionary. In 1875, inspired by David Livingstone (1813-1873), Laws travelled to Malawi and was involved in the foundation of the mission station of Livingstonia on the shores of Lake Nyasa. During the succeeding 50 years he also established a network of hundreds of schools. In 1908 Laws was elected moderator of the General Assembly of the United Free Church of Scotland.
