Therefore, we propose to resume research on repackaged application detection by presenting a literature review that summarizes the challenges and current solutions for detecting such applications, alongside a large-scale dataset (i.e., repackaged applications) that supports the replication of existing solutions and enables impactful new research directions. We hope that these contributions will reactivate the field of repackaged application detection and inspire innovative approaches that outperform the current state-of-the-art.
