Deaths by end-of-life medical decision; age, gender

The Death Study provides information about medical decisions taken by the treating physician around the end of life. For the study, a sample was drawn from the cause of death statements of people who died in the months of August to November of the study year and who belonged to the population of the Netherlands at the time of death. The sample data has been converted into annual figures. This table describes the deceased by end-of-life medical decision by age and gender. Data available: 2001, 2005, 2010 and 2015 Status of the figures: The figures in this table are final. Changes as of 9 August 2019: The underlying codes of gender and age classifications used in this table have been adjusted. These are now in line with the standard codes laid down by CBS. The structure and data of the table have not been adjusted. When will there be new figures? The study takes place five years ago.
