Effectiveness and safety profile of secukinumab monotherapy for the prevention of generalized pustular psoriasis flares: A multicenter retrospective cohort study

Generalized pustular psoriasis (GPP) poses a significant challenge in clinical management due to its rare, chronic, and potentially life-threatening nature. Despite advancements in treatment modalities, preventing GPP flares remains an area of unmet need. Our study addresses this gap by investigating the efficacy and safety of secukinumab monotherapy in preventing GPP flares among patients with a history of recurrent flare onset. In our multicenter retrospective cohort study, we evaluated 11 GPP patients who had experienced at least three past GPP flares since onset. Our findings suggest that secukinumab demonstrates promise as an effective and safe therapeutic option for GPP patients with recurrent flares. This is the first study to support the potential use of secukinumab monotherapy as a preventive strategy in the long-term clinical management of GPP.
