Fresh T. matsutake fruiting body were obtained from a cultivated field in Aba, Sichuan province of China. After harvest, the fruiting bodies showing without any physical damage and of the similar size and shape were taken to the laboratory immediately. The samples were randomly and equally divided into three groups, with nine replicates in each group, then stored at 4 oC and 90% relative humidity for 0, 3 and 6 day. Samples from the three storage periods were named T0 (0 day, fresh T. matsutake), T1 (3 day) and T2 (6 day). For transcriptome and metabolome analyses, samples were frozen and ground to power in liquid nitrogen, and 9 fruiting bodies were merged together as one biological repeat. Three biological replicates of each storage periods were prepared for transcriptome analysis.
