资源简介:
The genomic sequencing of Clostridioides difficile isolates aimed to characterize their genetic diversity, clade distribution, virulence factors, and antimicrobial resistance profiles before and after fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT). By comparing isolates obtained from the same patients at different time points, this approach sought to determine whether post-FMT colonization represented persistence of the original strain or acquisition of a new one. The relevance of this analysis lies in uncovering the genomic mechanisms that enable C. difficile to persist asymptomatically despite microbiota restoration, providing insights into strain-specific traits such as toxin gene presence, regulatory mutations, and resistance determinants. These findings contribute to a better understanding of how genetic variability within C. difficile populations influences infection outcomes, persistence, and potential risk for future recurrence, emphasizing the value of genomic surveillance in guiding effective therapeutic and infection control strategies.
