Several cyanobacterial species are dominant primary producers in hot spring microbial mats around the world. The present study released 34 medium and high-quality cyanobacterial MAGs which were recovered from 18 hot spring metagenomes available in the NCBI database and 4 new metagenomes from a temperature range from 32 to 75 celcius degrees and a pH range from 5.8 to 9.2. These metagenomes were distributed in 8 countries and 4 continents. This BioProject collects exclusively the cyanobacterial MAGs obtained from metagenomes obtained from hot springs in Chile. The samples were taken from the Tatio geyser field in the Atacama desert, from Porcelana and Cahuelmo hot springs in the Northern Patagonia, and from the Kroner lake in Deception Island, Antarctica. These MAGs revealed a high degree of taxonomic novelty in the phylum, as also some common genomic features that distinguish thermophilic cyanobacteria from other mesophilic relatives.
