Effect of complex probiotics on intestinal flora after chemotherapy in mice with AOM/DSS-induced colon cancer

We propose a composite probiotic combination comprising Lactiplantibacillus plantarum AS21, Limosilactobacillus reuteri YR11, Enterococcus hirae 8-62, and Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. Lactis MH-02. When administered concurrently with FOLFOX chemotherapy, this combination demonstrates mitigating effects on chemotherapy-induced adverse reactions (reducing bone marrow suppression and diarrhea severity). Transcriptomic analysis reveals its regulatory influence on immune infiltrating cells, thereby enhancing the inhibitory effect on colorectal cancer. Through 5R-16S sequencing, we characterized changes in gut microbiota and tumor microenvironment bacteria in AOM/DSS-induced inflammation-associated colorectal cancer mice receiving chemotherapy alone versus chemotherapy combined with probiotics.
