Neonatal late-onset sepsis is a devastating disease for which pre-term infants are highly susceptible. Using a novel murine model of this disease, we gained insights on how dysbiosis in neonatal mice is critically important to the susceptibility of this disease. To better understand the mechanisms by which the endogenous flora offer protection or susceptible to newborn mice, we aimed to better characterize several isolates from our colony. This BioSample contains the whole genome sequences of lactobacilli isolated from 5 day old mice colon contents using MRS selective media. Additionally, we have included a previously unsequenced probiotic and a previously unsequenced pathogen to better understand genetic determinants related to pathogenicity of K. pneumoniae in neonates and protection by probiotic lactobacilli.
