This project is funded by the National Ocean Partnership Program (NOPP), with support from the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Office of Naval Research (ONR), and the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), which initially originated from the ECCO program. Its long-term objective is to deliver high-resolution coupled ocean/sea ice/biogeochemical (and ultimately, consistent atmospheric) global ocean state estimates. In contrast to conventional numerical weather prediction, these estimates will encompass both historical ocean states and future projections.
