A series of soluble trinuclear copper(I) and silver(I) complexes containing bicapped diynyl ligands, [M3(μ-dppm)3(μ3-η1-C⋮CC⋮CR)2]PF6 (M = Cu, R = Ph, C6H4CH3-p, C6H4OCH3-p, nC6H13, H; M = Ag, R = Ph, C6H4OCH3-p), has been synthesized and their electronic, photophysical, and electrochemical properties studied. The X-ray crystal structures of [Cu3(μ-dppm)3(μ3-η1-C⋮CC⋮CPh)2]PF6 and [Cu3(μ-dppm)3(μ3-η1-C⋮CC⋮CH)2]PF6 have been determined.
