SPIE-AAPM-NCI PROSTATEx Challenge Dataset is a prostate imaging dataset sourced from a research challenge. This study comprises a set of retrospective prostate MRI studies, including T2-weighted, proton density-weighted, dynamic contrast-enhanced, and diffusion-weighted imaging sequences acquired via Siemens 3T MR scanners, specifically the MAGNETOM Trio and Skyra models. T2-weighted imaging was acquired using a turbo spin-echo sequence with an in-plane resolution of approximately 0.5 mm and a slice thickness of 3.6 mm, followed by a 3D turboflash gradient-echo sequence with an in-plane resolution of approximately 1.5 mm and a slice thickness of 4 mm. The final DWI series was obtained using a single-shot echo planar imaging sequence, which featured an in-plane resolution of approximately 2 mm, a slice thickness of 3.6 mm, diffusion encoding gradients in three directions, and a temporal resolution of 3.5 s. The relevant challenges linked to this dataset are the Prostate Challenge (SPIE-AAPM-NCI Prostate MR Classification Challenge) and the PROSTATEx-2 Challenge (SPIE-AAPM-NCI Prostate MR Gleason Grade Group Challenge). The SPIE-AAPM-NCI PROSTATEx Challenge Dataset contains a total of 309,251 images from 346 patients, and was released by the Cancer Imaging Archive (TCIA) in 2016, with the associated paper titled "ProstateX Challenge Data".
