In this study, we identified chemoautotrophic carbon fixation in thermokarst lakes by collecting water samples along a ~1,100-km permafrost transect on the Tibetan Plateau. Based on biodegradable DOC incubation and 14C-labeling bicarbonate (NaH14CO3) assimilation experiment, we examined the DOC dynamics in thermokarst lakes and explored the potential drivers using biogeochemical analysis.
