The Psyche spacecraft launched on October 13, 2023, en route to the main-belt asteroid (16) Psyche. We present here a navigation-centric summary of the activities from launch through the beginning of cruise thrusting, including assessment of launch injection accuracy, initial acquisition, thruster calibration activities, and the start of long-term cruise thrusting in April 2024. Injection accuracy was well within requirements, and valuable navigation data were obtained during the initial checkout activities, allowing the team to characterize the thrusters ahead of long-term operations. Various challenges are also described, along with lessons learned.
