Escherichia coli strain:P50 Genome sequencing and assembly. Escherichia coli strain:P50

The uropathogenic Escherichia coli P50 strain was isolated from a dog having urinary tract infection in New Zealand. Given its infection sites in the urinary tract and its strong capability of biofilm formation, this isolate could be used as a model organism to study pathogenesis of urinary tract infections, the genetic mechanism of biofilm formation and examine the efficacy of novel antibiotic treatments aiming to urinary tract infections or of antibiotic-coated urinary catheters. The draft genome of this strain would provide a useful source of information to facilitate such studies.
