Demand of oil for plastics production 2019-2060

The amount of oil demanded for the global production of plastics amounted to approximately nine million barrels per day as of 2019. Provided that plastic pyrolyzation technology does not advance significantly enough to allow plastic recycling to be more effective, it is projected that the volume of oil demanded to produce plastics will amount around 23 million barrels per day in 2060.
