Tsawwassen - Swartz Bay Ferry Route Coloured Dissolved Organic Matter Deployed 2003-04-30

The WET Labs Wetstar CDOM Fluorometer 817 was deployed on 2003-04-30 on Tsawwassen - Swartz Bay Ferry Route. This ferry route goes between Tsawwassen terminal in Vancouver, BC and the Swartz Bay terminal, Victoria BC. This device is a Coloured Dissolved Organic Matter. Coloured Dissolved Organic Matter (CDOM), or Chromophoric, is a component of dissolved organic matter (DOM) that is measured optically. CDOM fluorometers measure the intensity and wavelength distribution of an emission spectrum after excitation by a particular spectrum of light. These parameters detect the amount of CDOM, because it absorbs short wavelengths ranging from blue to ultraviolet. It was deployed on a mobile platform. Data from this deployment were archived and made available through Ocean Networks Canada's Oceans 2.0 digital infrastructure, with quality assurance and derived data products following established practices.
