Building-level residential material stock and embodied carbon dataset for South Korea
收藏资源简介:
Data Description: Building-level material stock and embodied carbon dataset (South Korea) Overview This dataset contains spatially explicit, building-level estimates of residential material stock (MS) and cradle-to-gate embodied carbon (EC) for [REGIONNAME], South Korea. The data are provided as an OGC GeoPackage (.gpkg), integrating official building footprints with attributes derived from administrative registries and the study’s final gap-filling workflow. The public release excludes building-height variables, construction year, administrative identifiers, and other raw registry helper fields. It therefore provides only the gap-filled floor-area variables, the final archetype labels, and the final building-level material-stock and embodied-carbon estimates used in the released study outputs. Coverage The dataset covers all building polygons in [REGIONNAME] contained in the final study dataset. Residential outputs are zero for buildings that were not identified as contributing to the residential stock. File Specification File Name: [REGIONNAME]_buildingSHP_public_v2.gpkg Format: OGC GeoPackage Coordinate Reference System (CRS): EPSG:5179 (Korea Central Belt 2010) Coverage: All residential and mixed-use buildings in [REGIONNAME] contained in the final study dataset. Attribute Table Schema The attribute table includes the following fields for each building polygon: Field Name Description Unit ArcheType Final building archetype used in the stock and embodied-carbon estimation. – NetArea_gf_m2 Gap-filled gross floor area. m² ResidFloorArea_gf_m2 Final above-ground residential floor area. m² GapComponent Gap-decomposition category for the building-level residential addition. Values: No_gapfill, Omission, or Undercoverage. – GapAddArea_m2 Added residential floor area attributable to the gap-filling procedure. m² GapAddStock_kg Added material stock attributable to the gap-filling procedure. kg GapAddEC_kgCO2 Added embodied carbon attributable to the gap-filling procedure. kg CO2-eq MI_GF_Resid Final central estimate of total residential material intensity. kg/m² MI_GF_Concrete_Resid Final central estimate of concrete-related material intensity. kg/m² MI_GF_Steel_Resid Final central estimate of steel-related material intensity. kg/m² Stock_GF_Resid Final central estimate of total residential material stock. kg Stock_GF_Concrete_Resid Final central estimate of concrete-related material stock. kg Stock_GF_Steel_Resid Final central estimate of steel-related material stock. kg EC_GF_Resid Final central estimate of total cradle-to-gate embodied carbon. kg CO2-eq EC_GF_Concrete_Resid Final central estimate of concrete-related cradle-to-gate embodied carbon. kg CO2-eq EC_GF_Steel_Resid Final central estimate of steel-related cradle-to-gate embodied carbon. kg CO2-eq Note: The GeoPackage may also contain the system-generated field fid. This is an internal GeoPackage feature identifier rather than a study-defined scientific variable. Methodology Summary Building footprints from the Korean Roadname Address Database were linked to official building-registry information through a hierarchical address-matching workflow. Missing or incomplete building attributes were then gap-filled using the study workflow, which combines administrative fallback procedures, satellite-based deep learning for building-height inference (BHE-Net), and statistical models for downstream attribute estimation. Building-height variables are not included in the public release because of licensing constraints. Material stock was estimated using the study’s final archetype-based material-intensity model. The released stock variables summarize total residential stock and its concrete-related and steel-related components. Embodied carbon was calculated under a cradle-to-gate system boundary (A1–A3), using material-specific emission factors compiled from South Korean EPD-based and static factor sources in the final workflow. Related Tabular Datasets In addition to the regional public GeoPackages, the study also provides province-level tabular datasets and model-parameter tables: • provincial_summary_17.csv: Province-level summary statistics for the 17 provinces, including total and per-capita material stock and embodied carbon, weighted gap ratios, and area statistics. • MI_parameters.csv: Model-parameter table for the manuscript-truth log-linear material-intensity model, including regression coefficients, residual quantiles, and archetype-specific predictor ranges. • EPD_GWP_factors.csv: Material-level cradle-to-gate GWP factors used in the embodied-carbon calculations, including lower, central, and upper values where available. If these tabular datasets are described together with the GeoPackage release, they can be introduced as companion files that provide aggregated regional indicators and the parameter tables used in the stock and embodied-carbon estimation workflow. Usage and Licensing This dataset is intended for research on building stocks, urban metabolism, circular economy, material accounting, and sectoral decarbonisation.
