Microbiota compositions of Romane sheep reared at Osmoy, France (INRAE)

Romane growing lambs were sampled to study the digestive microbiota. Different compositions were studied by sampling different host microbiomes (i.e., rumen fluid or faeces), and by sequencing different rRNA genes regions (i.e., region V4-V5 of the 16S gene, or V4 of the 18S gene). The rumen fluid was sampled thanks to a medical gastric tube connected to a vaccum pump, while faeces were sampled from the rectum. Animals were sampled under a 100% concentrate diet (Cdiet), and then later, some lambs were also phenotyped under a mixed diet including around 1/3 of concentrates and 2/3 of forages (Mdiet).
