Transcriptomic comparison of cold and control treated roots of doubled haploid lines from a European maize landrace

For the extraction of RNA, plants of the 20 genotypes and additionally the reference genotypes PE0075 and B104 were grown for 4 days under control condition (26/18 °C for 16h light/8h dark) and separated into cold (12 °C) and control (18 °C) conditions for 8h. Samples were taken by pooling the root meristem and elongation zones of up to 10 plants. Each genotype with the two conditions(cold and tolerant) had 4 biological replicates, resulting in 176 samples. Those were randomised and sequenced via paired-end sequencing by Illumina HiSeq 4000 creating libraries of 100 bp length reads.
