Festival of Frequency Measurement 1 October 2019 Greg Davidson VE6GRT Location Alberta Canada 51.13 -114.62 Start time 22:00 Sept 30, 2019 UTC Both WWV 5.0 Mhz and WWV 10 Mhz recorded. Hardware: SDRPlay-2 Receiver, Local Oscillator 6.2 Mhz, 8 Mhz bandwidth, allowing simultaneous recording of WWV 5 and WWV 10 Mhz Antenna - 120 meter horizontal loop, 10 meters above ground Fequency Reference, Calibrated to WWV 10 Mhz and WWV 15 Mhz. Calibration Error - WWV 5.0, 0.5 Hz low, WWV 10.0, 3.2 Hz high Frequency Measurement, Fldigi in parallel with homebrew software. Two methods provide same frequency result, homebrew software also records 50 Hz spectral range (1 per minute) around 1000 Hz carrier. Difficulties: 3 minute frequency error (spike) at 22:31 Sept 30, 2019 due to tuning test. Temperature drift due to abnormal cold spell during test, induced error is about 05.Hz arising from 2 degree temperature change. The included file `VE6GRT_Temperature_Effect.docx`` documents the error induced due to temperature.
