Concentrations of mercury, major elements, and trace metals in surface sediment in the northern Barents Sea and central Arctic Basin

This dataset includes concentrations of Hg, Li, Al, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, As, Ag, Cd, Pb, TOC, and LOI in surface sediment. Samples were collected on five cruises in the northern Barents Sea between 2019 and 2021 as part of the Nansen Legacy project. Sediment was collected via box corer and Van Veen grab from the upper 0-2 cm and transferred to trace metal clean sampling tubes and frozen onboard. Prior to analysis, all samples were freeze-dried and homogenized. Hg was measured on a DMA-80. Trace elements were measured after acid digestion by ICP-MS. TOC % was measured using a Primacs SNC100 TOC Analyzer.
