Planktothrix agardhii is a common cyanobacterium forming blooms in waterbodies and produce various secondary metabolites. Among them several types of oligopeptides were produced nonribosomally. Although, these oligopeptides biological functions are not well known, they are biologically active against prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms. Oligopeptides are very diverse in cyanobacteria species. To reveal the whole oligopeptide production of a strain, we have used next generation sequencing technology for the whole genome sequencing of Planktothrix agardhii.
