Source data for Figure 2: Global temperature anomalies and illustrative High Mountain Asia warming trajectory, 1900–2025

This deposit contains the source data underlying Figure 2 of the review article "Glacier Retreat and Water Security in Arid Mountains: Navigating the Transition from Peak Water to Permanent Deficit" (submitted to Water Security). Raw_NASA_GISTEMP_data.csv is an unmodified export of the global Land–Ocean Temperature Index (anomalies in °C relative to 1951–1980) from the NASA GISS Surface Temperature Analysis, version 4 (GISTEMP v4), downloaded 8 April 2026 from https://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/. Source_Data_Figure_2.csv contains the processed series plotted in Figure 2: global annual mean anomaly (1900–2025), its trailing 10-year running mean, and an illustrative High Mountain Asia trajectory obtained by scaling the global anomaly by a factor of 1.4 to represent elevation-dependent warming reported for glacierized High Mountain Asia (Kraaijenbrink et al., 2017, doi:10.1038/nature23878; Meng et al., 2023, doi:10.1016/j.atmosres.2023.106948).
