Statistical sectors Ghent

The term “statistical sector” was introduced in 1970 by the National Statistical Institute (NIS). Previously, the municipality was the smallest administrative entity for which socio-economic data were available. The statistical sectors share the territory of: basis of morphological and/or socio-economic characteristics. The boundary for statistical sectors, it usually coincides with clearly in the landscape recognisable elements or administrative/managerial elements classifications. Many surveys are generalised into information at the level of the statistical sector.
