Stockholms historiska karta: förhandsbilder och metodbeskrivning (förhandsversion).

This is a citable pre-release from the project Stockholm Historical Map. Part of this work is used within the research project “Stadens ansikten. Visual culture and social structure in Stockholm 1880–1930” (Swedish Research Council 2020-04652; host institution Stadsmuseet i Stockholm; project lead Rebecka Lennartsson). The purpose is to provide a stable DOI for bibliographies and for the DIGARV anthology without releasing the full dataset at this stage. Current contentsThis pre‑release currently contains a README and a small selection of test images that illustrate visual style and structure. No raw data is included in this version. Coverage• Geographic coverage is Stockholm and surrounding areas.• Temporal coverage is approximately 1200–2020.• The coordinate system used is SWEREF 99 18 00 (EPSG:3007). Methods (pre‑release)Historical rasters are georeferenced to SWEREF 99 18 00 using control points at stable features such as street intersections, shorelines and landmarks. Overlay analysis is used to stack and harmonise time layers so that older maps can be aligned to modern reference data. Source triangulation and an exclusion approach are applied to reconcile conflicting dates and attributes across archives and registries. Features carry start and end years to enable year‑by‑year change tracking; the underlying database currently comprises roughly one million geographic objects derived from more than 30,000 historical geographic documents, with a target resolution of about one metre in space and one year in time. Rights and license• This pre‑release contains materials authored by Axel von Matern as part of the subproject.• Joint results within Stadens ansikten will be published in coordination with the project team and credited accordingly.• Third‑party sources will remain under their respective licenses and will be added in later versions.• The materials are licensed under CC BY‑NC‑ND 4.0 (Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial–NoDerivatives 4.0 International).
