Between January and June 2024, 36.47 percent of user reports on X (formerly Twitter) were due to reasons of abuse and harassment. Additionally, almost four percent of reports were due to concerns about child safety. In April 2022, businessman and entrepreneur Elon Musk announced his plans to acquire the publicly listed company and completed the transaction in October 2022.
