Population genomics of Iberian Arnica montana

This research is focused on the herb Arnica montana, a vulnerable species with pharmacological properties. A genomic screening based on the 2b-RADseq methodology was performed with 5,675 SNPs (Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms) to assess the levels of genetic diversity and population structure at the genomic level in the Iberian Peninsula. Furthermore, candidate SNPs associated with selective processes related to local adaptations and biochemical properties were found. The obtained information is relevant to develop management and conservation actions for the Iberian A. montana populations located on the southern edge of species' natural distribution, being more prone to be affected by the ongoing climate change.
