Genome sequence of cumin will provide high-density molecular markers which can be used to quickly map agronomically desirable traits and to identify candidate genes within a region of interest. It will also use for QTL mapping of desirable traits in cumin crop even if only some sequence will be available. This will undoubtedly accelerate the pace and usefulness of mapping the cumin genome, and will further allow integration of different cumin genome and facilitate comparison of other cumin variety and other spices crops.
