Earthquake – earthquake: Subsurface classes

The online map of earthquake events represents the earthquakes registered by the Rhineland-Palatinate Land Earthquake Service since 2000. As shown in the description of the station network (https://www.lgb-rlp.de/fachthemen-des-amtes/landeserdbebendienst-rheinland-pfalz/erdbeben-stationsnetz.html), the LER is a locally oriented measuring network, only earthquakes around Rhineland-Palatinate are shown. The map of earthquake zones and geological underground classes for Rhineland-Palatinate refers to DIN 4149:2005-04. Load assumptions, design and construction, published by DIN Deutsches Institut f uuml;r Normung e.V., Burggrafenstr. 6, D-10787 Berlin. Non-tectonic, seismic induced events are not the subject of this presentation (DIN 4149:2005-04, Chapter 5.1). The control within each earthquake zone is assumed to be uniform, apart from the variations resulting from different underground conditions. For this purpose, a distinction is made between the geological subsurface classes.
