CFBP7698 is non-pathogenic strain of Xanthomonas isolated from bean seeds. It live in sympatry with pathogenic strains. It is devoid of a Type 3 secretion system, but still retain the ability to induce a HR-like necrosis on non host plants. Comparative genomics and functional studies were performed in the aim of gaining some understanding of the drivers of emergence of novel pathogenic Xanthomonas strains out of commensals.
