Replication Data for: A Field Experiment at the Moscow Mayoral Elections

Raw data: electionresults2013.txt – Moscow mayor election results in 2013; uiks_2013.txt – matching table between metro stations, UIKs (precincts) in 2013 and UIKs 2012 (presidential election); metroelection_2013.txt – list of metro stations with a indicator where the newspaper was distributed; 2012_pres_4.dta – 2012 presidential election results. Combined data file: data_moscow_elections_Jan2024.dta. Codes: We used Stata version 14 and R 4.2.3 for the analysis. RawDataPrep.do produces the combined data file data_moscow_elections_Jan2024.dta for the main analysis. Jan2024_final_results.do produces several matrices with output Table 2, Table 3, Table 4, Table 4, Table 5a, and Table 5b. The matrices should be copied to the excel file MoscowElectionsNovember23.xlsx for formatting. The matrix should be selected in Stata output window, then right click of the mouse, then Copy Table, then Paste in the corresponded place of the excel file. MoscowElectionsJan2024.R produces the graphs reported in Appendix 5. The code produces Figure 1A. To produce Figure 2A one should substitute (col1==1) with (col2==1). To produce Figure 3A one should substitute (col1==1) with (col3==1). To produce Figure 4A one should substitute (col1==1) with (col4==1). Other files. Readme.txt contains step by step instructions to replicate the results. MoscowElectionsNovember23.xlsx - contains the formatted tables from the output produced by Jan2024_final_results.do.
