Data for: Effects of spotted hyaena extirpation on scavenger diversity and behaviour at carcasses

All_CT_records_allpics.csv – main unedited file of CT data sorted by CameraSweat software. This file contains the main information of each camera trap detection including metadata (id, location, latitude, longitude, detection time, camera start date-time, camera end date-time, carcass variables, species detected, number of individuals). All_scavengers_sorted.csv – main file sorted by 30-minute capture separation and excluding all non-scavenger species. This file contains the same information as the main file and is displayed in long format by scavenger species. Also included is the species richness per site (and richness with spotted hyaenas excluded) with the number of days the camera recorded data to calculate relative abundance index (RAI). C_site.csv – sorted main file grouped by property. Used for assessing carcass characteristic variables and vulture presence at carcasses. C_max.csv – C_site.csv with detections per species summed for the highest count of individuals per species per video capture. Used for scavenger maximum abundance. C_sum.csv – C_site.csv with detections per species summed for scavenger abundance and divided by the number of trap nights for RAI. Used for scavenger and vulture relative abundances. Species_matrix_abundance.csv – Matrix with the Bray-Curtis dissimilarity distance applied for species on a carcass-by-relative abundance structure. Used in the scavenger composition NMDS and SIMPER analyses. Activity_by_species.csv – total circular (radial) diel activity counts per species per hour. Used in the diel activity per species analyses. Scavengers_temporal_grouped.csv – species by site diel activity in decimal and radian format for every detection. Used in the diel activity per species analyses.
