Values expressed in terms of percent of total number of neurons for each type. The number of phases refer to the number of task-phases neurons were selective for. Phasic and tonic refer to the neurons’ response during a task phase based on how many bins neurons fired more than 2 standard deviations above their mean firing rate. Excitatory and inhibitory refer to neurons increasing (excitatory) or decreasing (inhibitory) their firing rates during a task phase compared to their overall mean firing rate.
