Presentation — Staging Australian Women’s Lives Panel Discussion: How Feminist Processes Show and Tell Feminist Theatre Research (ADSA 2021)

This panel presentation introduces the Staging Australian Women’s Lives (SAWL) project and explores how feminist research processes can show and tell theatre and performance research through collaborative, embodied, and creative methodologies. The presentation outlines the project’s aims to document the influence of Australian womxn theatre practitioners, analyse feminist performance strategies and tactics, and develop socially engaged approaches to theatre research through interviews, focus groups, legacy letters, mapping activities, and digital archival practices. It also discusses the project’s emerging themes, including care, erasure, collaboration, intersectionality, and the recovery of overlooked theatrical histories through creative and participatory research methods.
