Prolonged favipiravir treatment of chronic HuNoV infection in immunocompromised patients results in clinical improvement related to drug-induced viral mutagenesis and loss of infectivity

Prolonged favipiravir (an RdRp inhibitor) treatment of chronically HuNoV-infected, immunodeficient patients, causes extensive, genome-wide, viral mutagenesis associated with irreversibly reduced HuNoV infectivity and results in dose-dependent clinical improvement without evidence of clinically relevant drug resistance.
