Soil-Jar Calibration (Stage 0) — Methods and Data: Cardboard & Humidity Soil Revitalization Experiment

The Soil-Jar Experiment examines how recycled cardboard liners, controlled humidity pulses, and low-cost amendments influence the reactivation of microbial and fungal activity in dry indoor soil. Six jars serve as small, repeatable environments that allow direct observation of humidity effects, liner behavior, and early biological changes. The design prioritizes accessible methods and consumer-grade tools so that home researchers can reproduce the workflow without specialized equipment.Stage 0 establishes the baseline geometry and mass of the six jars used in the Soil-Jar Experiment. These measurements support later calculations of water retention, mass change, and air displacement during humidity and amendment trials.
