Abstract
A program is presented that permits the simultaneous standardization of the three-nuclide mixture ^(90)Sr+^(90)Y +^(89)Sr in liquid-scintillation spectrometers with logarithmic pulse-height spectra outputs. The application of a new spectrum interpolation method permits one to obtain the spectral shape of each component for the quench value of the mixture while the standardization of the separated components is achieved by the CIEMAT/NIST tracing method.
Title of program: SRLOG
Catalogue Id: ACTY_v1_0
Nature of problem
89Sr and 90Sr are fission products, which receive considerable attention in security programmes of nuclear power stations. The radiostrontiums can be easily isolated from other radioactive isotopes by using cation exchange columns. However, 90Sr decays to its daughter 90Y, which transforms the mixture in a three-nuclide problem: 90Sr+90Y+89Sr.
