Images and a Report from an Archaeological Excavation at Royal Wootton Bassett Sports Hub, Wiltshire 2014

This collection comprises images and a report from the archaeological excavation of three areas on a development site for a sports hub on land at Royal Wootton Bassett, Wiltshire. Work was undertaken by AC archaeology during June and July 2014. The excavation revealed settlement features of probable Iron Age and Romano-British date. The finds, including coins, a brooch, pottery, and animal bones indicate a low status rural settlement of late 1st-/early 2nd- to 3rd-century AD date, with some minor continuation in to the mid 4th century.
