Black and white lantern slide showing a native African soldier of the King's African Rifles standing to attention. He wears a dark over shirt, a light belt, khaki shorts and a pill-box hat. It is possible that this uniform dates from before the First World War. The soldier stands amongst straw huts, possibly at a barracks. This slide comes from a set on the activities of the King’s African Rifles battalions in Nyasaland. It was originally held by the Church of Scotland, and generated by J.W MacKay.
