USDA - Web Soil Survey

The Web Soil Survey provides access to the largest natural resource information system in the world - there are soil maps and data available online for more than 95% of the United States' counties and anticipates having 100% in the near future. Select an area of interest (AOI) in the application using a shapefile or zipped shapefile. Proceed to view or print a soil map and detailed descriptions of the soils in your AOI. One can also explore and determine the suitability of soils for a particular use, saving the information needed for a report in the shopping cart and downloading or printing it later. Soil surveys can be used for general farm, local, and wider area planning. Onsite investigation is needed in some cases, such as soil quality assessments and certain conservation and engineering applications.
